Do You Know Which Search Engine You Really Like the Best?

I stumbled across this website the other day and couldn’t avoid playing with it.  It’s called BlindSearch and it’s a search engine taste test. You type in a query and it shows the results of Yahoo, Google, and Bing- except it doesn’t tell you which one is which.

I thought I preferred Google, and in a blind test, I do prefer Google, but that wasn’t the case for friends of mine who also thought they preferred Google’s results.  After a few tests on it, you can start to get a sense the types of results each search engine reveals. I found that Google gives the best random results, but Bing is beneficial when you are looking for more factual information.

Using this blind search is also a good place to check up where your company is on search engine rankings. You might be surprised to see that there is a difference between the pages.  It’s also a good time to see if Bing has crawled your website yet.
