In Case You Did Not Know – Opportunities for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) Part I
It's pretty evident from the news that the current administration is a small business friendly one. One of the small business set-aside categories is for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs). Large businesses seeking Federal Government contracts are actively seeking qualified SDVOSBs to help meet their set-aside requirements. The set-aside requirement for SDVOSBs is currently 3% which represents a significant share of Federal contracting requirements.
Over the last few years, aided by Congressional legislation, SDVOSBs now have some key advantages that can and should be taken advantage of by SDVOSBs and large businesses as well. These programs include provisions for SDVOSB JVs, SDVOSB Mentor-Protégé arrangements, SBA Patriot Loans (for all veterans) and direct awards.
This is unquestionably a good time for small businesses who position themselves to take full advantage of the many programs and resources the government has established.
In Part II I will discuss some of the details that relate to many of the above mentioned programs.
