The GPS Era- leaving maps behind

When a friend of mine first got a GPS on his phone years ago, he was so entranced by it, he joked that he was going to start using it all the time, even when he already knew the directions.  Three years later, people don't use maps anymore (and no, MapQuest does not count as a map).  The idea of taking out a map, seeing where you need to go and the best way to get there, practically does not exist. We just type in a destination and expect to be taken there without problems.

It's no surprise then, to see how businesses have adapted this same attitude. Countless companies are simply stating a destination of where they want the company to be without taking the time to plan the route.

They have no Strategic Plan - while they may know their destination, they have no real idea on how to get there.

Unfortunately there are no GPSs for the business world. If you are not planning the steps for corporate success, it will not happen.  Sometimes you're just so busy battling the traffic that you forget to map out the best route.

It's time companies, pulled aside for a second and took the time to plan the best strategic route for their success.
